New York Blower intake air filters come in 3 basic grades. All the filter grades are characterized as PM2.5 to PM10. PM10 and PM2.5 filters are capable of removing particulate matter with diameters of 10 micrometers and 2.5 micrometers with up to 99 percent efficiency. The New York Blower filter medias are cellulose, polyester felt and screen wire.

Cellulose media is the most common media deployed when conditions are normal. Polyester felt media can be used when environmental conditions need to be taken into consideration. Some of these conditions may be temperature, oxidizing agents, and other organic compounds. The poly felt media may also offer a higher dirt loading capacity when compared to paper media. The third media is a pleated wire mesh. The NYB wire mesh media has good filtration efficiency but is more expensive. Wire mesh media has a low pressure drop.
